All students follow the National Curriculum throughout Key Stages 3 and 4. The governors and staff are committed to 'Achievement for All' and therefore the College offers a broad and balanced curriculum, in partnership with other providers, which prepares young people to play a positive role in society.
Key Stage 3: Years 7, 8 and 9
All pupils study the 'core': English, Mathematics, Science, ICT and Physical Education. In addition they study: Technology; Modern Foreign Languages (French and German in Year 7, French OR German in Years 8 and 9); Performing Arts (Drama, Dance, Music.); History; Geography; Art, Citizenship/Personal, Social and Health Education. Some students begin their Key Stage 4 courses in Year 9.
Religious Education. The local agreed syllabus is followed. Parents have the right to withdraw students from Religious Education on religious grounds and from Acts of Collective Worship, on the basis they provide some equivalent programme of learning.
An Internet Policy is in place and rules for its use are given to all students as part of their induction. This must be signed by both student and parent before access is given. Where this policy is infringed parents are informed and access withdrawn.
Key Stage 4: Years 10 and 11
There are many different routes for students, post-14. The College operates a 'core' which incorporates:
English (Language and Literature/Language and Media Studies)
Mathematics
Science (Double or Triple)
Technology (Other than Diploma Students) (Electronics/Food/Graphics/Textiles/Resistant Materials)
Physical Education
Personal, Social, Health, and Citizenship and Enterprise Education, (PSHCEE) including careers education and work experience.
All students must study some form of ICT (Functional ICT in the case of Diploma students not taking the ICT Diploma).
Students may elect to study for a Diploma or Vocational subjects in addition to the core. Those students may spend part of their College days at other participating sites as part of the Grantham 14-19 Consortium.
Students may supplement their core studies by opting for three GCSE subjects from the following: Business; Art; Drama; French; Geography; German; History; RE; ICT; Music; PE; BTEC Sport is offered on this site.
Provision is offered which is suitable for all abilities, with a number of Level 1 subjects and . An accelerated learning programme enables additional qualifications in Maths and Science. Able linguists and technologists are also accelerated and take AS qualifications in Year 11.
